MRS CORDELIA ANN (DELIA) ASHWORTH ALLDREDGE

Mrs. Cordelia Ann (Delia) Ashworth Alldredge, 86, R. R. 3, Mt. Vernon, a highly respected, life-long resident of South Posey county and a representative of two pioneer local families, died at 9:40 p.m. Sunday (20 Nov 1955) at Maxey Nursing Home in Evansville.

 

She was the widow of Alvin A. Alldredge, a prominent farmer northeast of Mt. Vernon who dies in 1950.

 

Mrs. Alldredge had been ill for the last two years following a fall in which she fractured a hip.  She entered the nursing home 11 months ago.

 

Funeral rites were held Tuesday at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home chapel at 2:30 p.m.  Rev. Arthur C. Blackburn, a retired General Baptist preacher, conducted the funeral service and burial rites in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

The deceased was a regular attendant of Primitive Baptist Church at Farmersville until illness prevented.

 

Surviving are a son, Floyd A. Alldredge, of near Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Schenk, Evansville, and Gordon F. Alldredge, Mt. Vernon; two great-grandchildren, and a brother, Herman Ashworth, Mt. Vernon.

 

Mts. Alldredge's parents were Moses Ashworth and Mary Allison Ashworth.
