FLORENCE DUCKWORTH ALLYN

Mrs. Florence Duckworth Allyn, 89, widow of Otis Allyn and a member of a pioneer Posey County family, died Tuesday (1 Dec 1953) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Tennison, in Fontana, Calif.

 

Mrs. Allyn, the husband, died in Mt. Vernon, a number of years ago.  Mrs. Allyn had resided with her daughter in California for about the last 12 years.

 

She was a native of Posey county, a daughter of Felix Duckworth and Elizabeth Ridenour Duckworth, representatives of prominent, early local families.

 

The body will be brought to Posey county.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Bufkin.  Accompanied by Mrs. Tennison, the body will leave Fontana, Thursday.  Definite local funeral and burial arrangements are yet to be made.

 

Nearest surviving relatives in addition to the daughter, Mrs. Tennison, are a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Kreeie, La Junta, Colo, and a son, Malcolm, Flint, Mich.  A son, Vernon was fatally injured in france in an auto accident during World War II.  He was serving in the Merchant Marine at the time.

 

Mrs. Marshall H. Alldredge, Mrs. Charles Slygh, Mrs. Henry B. Knight, Louis Thompson and Kenneth, Raymond and Ralph Blackburn, of Mt. Vernon and vicinity, are nieces and nephews of the deceased.
