Vollie Ashworth, 73, a former Mt. Vernon resident but for the last four years a resident of Eldorado, Ill, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday (10 Sep 1956) at his home at 716 East Denton street in Eldorado.

He had been ill for two years and seriously ill for three weeks.

His brother, Theodore (Dora) Ashworth, 61, Mt. Vernon, died last Friday night.

A native of Posey county, a son of representatives of two pioneer local families, Henry Clay Ashworth and Lavina Topper Ashworth, Vollie Ashworth was for many years an employ of Keck Gonerman Co., and Home Mill & Grain Co. in Mt. Vernon and a farmer near the city.

He moved from his home on North Locust street in Mt. Vernon to Eldorado, Ill, four years ago.

The body is at Eldorado Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Gospel Assembly Church in Eldorado, of which Mr. Ashworth was a member.

Following the rites in Eldorado, the body will be brought to Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon at 6 p.m.  Thursday.  A service at 2:30 p.m.. Friday in Weisinger chapel will precede burial in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Surviving are the wife, Miranda, two sons, Hilton, Evansville, and Alfred, Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Thompson, Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Odessa Cox and Mrs. Nellie Mattingly, Eldorado; five grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Ashworth, R. R. 4, Mt. Vernon and a sister Mrs. John E. Thompson, Mt. Vernon.
