FORMER LOCAL PASTOR IS KILLED IN INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT AT FT. BRANCH

Rev. Lawrence William Baize, 33, former pastor of the Princeton Bethel Assembly of God church here on south Main street, was fatally injured about 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon while at work at the Martin Engineering company in Ft. Branch.

 

Rev. Baize was pronounced dead on arrival at the local hospital.  Coroner Robert Kendall pronounced death as due to a fractured skull and possibly broken neck.

 

According to Coroner Kendall's investigation, Rev. Baize was struck on the back of the head and shoulders by a large metal ring which was being lowered to the ground by a crane a the Martin Engineering plant.

 

Rev. Baize had resigned as pastor of the local church only two weeks ago, after two years' service.  Prior to moving to Princeton, he was a resident of Evansville where he was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God church.

 

Rev. Baize was taken to the Alexander funeral home in Evansville and funeral services will be held in that city.

 

Surviving are the wife, Marie; mother, Mrs. Janie Baize; son, William Lee and daughter Barbara Ann.
