ROSCOE BARNETT RITES ON FRIDAY

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon for Roscoe C. Barnett, well-known Mt. Vernon resident for almost his entire life.

 

Mr. Barnett, who was 80 years old last June 18, died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday at his home at 600 East Fifth street.  A series of strokes produced by cerebral thrombosis caused death.  He had been ill for the last four years and seriously ill for the last three months.

 

The body is at the Weisinger funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Weisinger chapel.  Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist Church of which the deceased was a member, will conduct the services at the chapel and at Old Beech cemetery.

 

Friends are invited to call at the chapel after 4:30 pm. Thursday.

 

Surviving are the wife, nee Stelle Keller, whose marriage to the late deceased took place 51 years ago last December; a son, Jack, a police-sheriff radio operator, and a half-sister, Mrs. Kelly Wade, Amarillo, Texas.

 

Mr. Barnett's last official duties were those of Posey Circuit Court bailiff from 1948 to 1954.

 

The deceased was a native of Union-- (incomplete)
