Princeton police officers found Mrs. Eilene Barrett, 62, dead in her garage at 736 East State Sunday (28 Nov 1971) morning at approximately 11:10 a.m.  Mrs. Barrett died of carbon monoxide poisoning. according to Gibson county coroner, Bob Kendall.

 

Police officers went to the home after receiving a call from relatives.  They had called her on the phone, but failed to receive an answer.  Length of death before being found has not been determined, but she did die sometime early Sunday morning.

 

Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her husband, Perlie Barrett, who died November 9, 1971.

 

Mrs. Barrett attended the Atkinson Chapel Methodist church, Oatsville.  She was born in Flat Rock, Ill., February 12, 1909, and had lived in Princeton one years.

 

Survivors include two sons; Gary, of Oxford, Ohio; and Max, Princeton; one brother, Warren Schaffter, East Orange, New Jersey; and two grandchildren.

 

Friends may call at Colvin and Son Mortuary after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.  The funeral will be at Colvin Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Jewell DeWes officiating.  Burial will be at Atkinson Chapel, Oatsville.
