ST WENDEL GIRL IS CRASH VICTIM

Funeral services for Miss Jennifer Bauer, 18 of St. Wendel fatally injured in an auto accident early Friday (12 Dec 1975) morning were conducted at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home in Evansville, continued at 9:30 at St. Wendel Catholic church.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

 

Miss Bauer was killed about 1:30 a.m. Friday when the Jeep she was riding in crashed into a car crossing U.S. 460 at the intersection of Mesker Park Drive in Vanderburg Co.  The site, the most dangerous in this part of the state has been the scene of numerous accidents including a number of injuries and several fatalities.

 

A 1975 graduate of Central High School in Evansville, Miss Bauer was riding home from a date with Bruce C. Arbeiter, 22, of Evansville, who was driving west on U.S. 460 the 1975 Jeep they were in struck a car driven by Steve W. Kercher, 17, Evansville, who was driving north on Mesker Park Drive and was attempting to cross the highway.  The Jeep overturned after the collision.

 

Miss Bauer was pronounced dead at Deaconess Hospital at 1:45 a.m.  Arbeiter was treated for minor injuries and released.

 

The accident victim was employed at Indiana Bell Telephone co.

 

Surviving are the parents Mr and Mrs. Albert Bauer, a brother, Keith at home, a sister, Karen at home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Bauer, of Evansville.
