WILLIAM H BOKELMAN

William H. Bokelman, 84, prominent, retired Posey county farmer and a resident of the vicinity of Mt. Vernon for more than 60 years, died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday (21 Oct 1953) at his home on RR1.

 

He had been in failing health for several years but seriously ill for only two weeks.

 

Mr. Bokelman was a native of Perry township, Vanderburgh county, a son of Christian Bokelman and Caroline Steemeier Bokelman.  He came to Posey county in the early 1890's.

 

The body is at the Short Niehaus Funeral Home and it will remain there through the funeral service to be conducted at 2:20 P.M. Saturday in the Short - Niehaus chapel. Rev. August E Binder, pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church of which the deceased was a member, will be the officiating clergyman.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Mr. Bokelman's wife, nee Cora Alexander, died three months ago.

 

Surviving the late deceased are four daughters, Mrs. Francis S Hubert, Clio, Mich; Mrs. G. B. Lilly, Chicago, and Selma and Cora Bokelman at home; three sons, Attorney Andrew C Bokelman, Washington, Kansas and William D and Norman Bokelman at home; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and two brothers Louis and Fred Bokelman, Evansville.
