ROSALIE KIGHT BOREN

MARCH 11, 1957

Mrs. Rosalie Kight Boren, 88, a prominent and respected resident of Poseyville, who in her active years had assumed a leading role in civic, club and church circles of the community died at her home here Monday morning.

She was the wife of Dr. S. W. Boren and mother of Dr. Paul Boren.

She had been in declining health for a long period of time after fracturing her hip several years ago.  A member of two pioneer Robb Township families, Mrs. Boren was the daughter of Jesse and Matilda Boyle Kight.  She was born on the farm south of town and had spent her entire life in this community.  She was educated in the public school here and was a member of the first graduating class of Poseyville High School in 1886.  Later, she attended old State Normal at Terre Haute, now Indiana State Teachers college.  She was a charter member of the Poseyville Christian Church and the Federated Homemakers Club.  She was a teacher in the Sunday School for many years and a member of the church choir.  She was a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star chapter here and had served on the board of the Carnegie Public Library.

Funeral services were in charge of Rev. R. E. Deadman Wednesday in the Christian church.  Pallbearers were Dr. Carroll Boyle, Frank Boyle, Paul G. Wiggins, Gene Williams, Dr. Marion E. Warpeenburg and Robert Wiggins.
