LORETTA UTLEY BUCHANAN

Mrs. Loretta Utley Buchanan, 86, widow of Lemuel O. Buchanan and a resident on R. R. 1, Mt. Vernon, southeast of Caborn died at 8 a.m. Sunday (30 Jun 1957) at Bethany Nursing Home in Evansville where she had been a patient for five days.  Mr. Buchanan a farmer, died two years ago.

 

Mrs. Buchanan had been ill since last November and seriously ill since mid April of this year.

 

She was a life-long resident of Posey county, born in Robinson township, a daughter of James Perry Utley and Susan Catherine McLean Utley.

 

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service to be conducted in Short-Niehaus chapel at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Bufkin.  Rev. Arthur C. Blackburn, a retired General Baptist Church minister, will conduct the services.

 

The deceased was a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church at Bufkin.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alvin Holt, R. R. 3, Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Marion E. Elrod, Mt. Vernon; two sons, William Harvey Buchanan, Detroit, and Everett Buchanan, R. R. 1, Mt. Vernon, and eight grand children and 16 great grandchildren.
