NANCY CULLEY BUCHANAN

Mrs.Nancy Culley Buchanan, 77, wife of Louis Buchanan, a local painter and interior decorator, died at 9:25 a.m. today at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville after a long illness of pulmonary cancer.

 

She was a representative of two prominent pioneer South Posey county families and a lifelong local resident.  Her father was Samuel Culley and her mother Victoria Crunk Culley.

 

Mrs. Buchanan left her home at 1027 East Fifth street in Mt. Vernon to enter Deaconess Hospital in Evansville late last December.  From the hospital she went to the home of her daughter, Miss Martha Allyn, 1601 Shady Vista, Evansville.  She re-entered the hospital a week ago from the daughter's home.

 

The body has been brought to Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and friends may call there beginning at noon Friday.  The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. sunday in the short-Niehaus chapel with Elder Elmer M. Fleener in charge.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Bufkin.

 

The deceased was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church at Farmersville.

                        

Surviving, in addition to the husband, are two children by a former marriage, Miss Martha Allyn, Evansville and Manford K. Allyn, Chicago; a stepson, Malcolm E Buchanan, Mt. Vernon, Posey county deputy sheriff; two brothers, John M. Culley, Evansville, and Lawrence Culley who resides east of Mt. Vernon State Road 62 and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Thompson and Mrs. Grace Williams, both of Evansville.
