James I. Bundy, a retired farmer who observed his 86th birthday
last April 11, was fatally stricken by heart disease and died in the yard of
his home at Savah at 7:15 a.m. today.
The patriarch of the Savah community,
whose genial personality had endeared him to a legion of friends, had spent his
entire life in the one neighborhood.
Death was unexpected.
Mr. Bundy had been ill of a cold for several days but was up and
about and was watching his son, Otis Ellwood, clean soybean seed. He fell
to the ground and died almost instantly as he started to procure a sack for use
in the bean cleaning.
The body is at the Weisinger Funeral
Home and will remain there through the funeral service, but definite funeral
arrangements had not been completed at
Mr Bundy was a son of Benonie
Stinson Bundy, also a lifelong resident of
He was a member of Modern Woodmen of American and a trustee of the
Alexander Poor White Orphans' Fund.
His wife nee Cora Greathouse, died 10
years ago.
Surviving him are the son Otis Ellwood, who resided with him; four
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Philo Bundy,
