OTIS O CARROLL

Otis O. Carroll, 76, a well known retired farmer and livestock raiser in the Farmersville vicinity most of his lifetime died at 9:45 p.m. Monday (25 Mar 1957) at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, a few minutes after his arrival there by ambulance.

 

A heart condition was fatal.

 

Mr. Carroll and his wife, Daisy Margaret Pritchard Carroll, had resided in recent years at 530 East Third street in Mt. Vernon.

 

Mr. Carroll's worsening condition resulted in his removal yesterday from his home to the home of a son, William C. Carroll, at Farmersville from where he was taken to the hospital.  Mrs. Carroll, the wife, who is ill, entered the L. & R. Nursing Home in New Harmony yesterday.

 

The deceased was a native of Posey county, the son of John R. Carroll and Virginia Adzett Carroll.

 

He resided on a farm north of Farmersville during his years of successful farming and livestock raising.

 

Mr. Carroll was an active Republican.  He was a former member of the Posey county Alcoholic Beverage Board and of the Black township Advisory Board.

 

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home.  It will remain there through the funeral service to be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.  Rev. Temas Taylor, pastor of Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church, will be the officiating minister.

 

Surviving, in addition to the wife and son, are a daughter, Mrs. Martha Overton, Evansville; seven grandchildren, and a brother, Walter T. Carroll, R. R. 3, Mt. Vernon.
