FREDA MCKINNEY COX

 

March 19, 1956

Mrs. Freda McKinney Cox, wife of Elzie Cox, a self-employed local truck transporter, died at 4 a.m. Sunday (18 Mar 1956) at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.  The Cox family resides at 530 Pearl street in Mt. Vernon.

 

Mrs. Cox entered the hospital last Wednesday after a stroke at her home.    She was a sister of Oliver McKinney retired Point township farmer who died two weeks ago in Evansville.

 

Mrs. Cox’s body is at Weisinger Funeral Home where the funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Weisinger chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.  Officiating ministers will be Rev. W. D. West, Evansville, and Rev. Paul Turner, Mt. Vernon.

 

Surviving in addition to the husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Orville Russell, Mt. Vernon; a son, David E. Mt. Vernon; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Edward McKinney, Mt. Vernon, and a sister, Mrs. Elijah Rhodes, R. R. 3.

 

Mrs. Cox for a number of years was an employee of he Mt. Vernon factory of Garment Corporation of America, which in 1948 was succeeded by Advance manufacturing Co.

 

She was a native of Posey county, a daughter of Taylor Mc Kinney and Amanda Glaze Mc Kinney.
