Native Of Posey Dies In Detroit

Winfred Daws, 57, a native of the Mt. Vernon vicinity but for many years a resident of Detroit, died suddenly in his hotel room there Tuesday (16 Feb 1954), apparently the victim of an attack of heart disease.

 

The body will be brought to Mt. Vernon for funeral rites and burial and is due to reach the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home early Friday evening.  Funeral arrangements had not been completed today but burial will be in Beech Grove cemetery in West Lynn township.

 

The deceased was a son of the late Lawrence Daws and Lizzie Alldredge Daws.  he was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School class of 1916 and was a Maron and Gray athlete during his high school days.

 

Surviving are a son and two brothers, Eddie Lee Daws, Mt. Vernon and Marion Daws, Cincinnati.  The two brothers were called to Detroit Tuesday and were due to return to Mt. Vernon today.
