JOHN ROBERT DERRINGTON

Oct 13, 1956

John Robert Derrington, an employee of Hendrix Drilling Co., was found dead in his bed at his home at 305 East Third street by his mother, Mrs. John Delmar Derrington, at 9:30 a.m. today.

He had been under medical care and death apparently was the result of natural causes.

His father, John Delmar Derrington, is seriously ill in deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

Coroner Merle a Weisinger said a post-mortem autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.  The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home.

When the mother, nee Esther Louise Kapperman, and sister of the deceased, Mrs. Betty Stevens, R. R. 3, Mt. Vernon, returned to the Derrington home about 9 o'clock last night from the Evansville hospital, their son and brother was reading in bed.  He got up, inquired about his father and returned to bed.  A "fishing job" on an oil lease on Point township where he was employed had temporarily idled the drilling crew member and he slept late yesterday and planned to do so again today.  Consequently his mother did not go into his bedroom until 9:30 o'clock.

The deceased was unmarried and resided with his parents.

In addition to his mother and sister, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Derrington, Evansville.
