JOHN DICKHAUT

John Dickhaut, 84, R. R. 2, Mt. Vernon, a devout member of St. John's Methodist Church at Caborn and a retired farmer died at 5 a.m. today at his home.  He had been seriously ill following a stroke suffered on Sept 20.

The life-long resident of the same Posey county neighborhood and his surviving wife had supplied three children to the service of the Methodist Church - a daughter as a missionary and two sons as ministers.

Death severed marital bonds of Mr. Dickhaut and the former Mary Wulf of 62 years.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at noon but the funeral service will be conducted at St. John's Methodist Church at Caborn.

Rev. H. R. Hoke, St. John's minister, will conduct the services and burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and will remain there until the late morning of the funeral.

Friends may call at the funeral home chapel after Friday noon.

The deceased's parents were Peter Dickhaut and Caroline Schreiber Dickhaut.

Mr. Dickhaut was the head of four generations.

He is survived by his wife; eight children, Mrs. martin Heneisen, R. R. Evansville, Mrs. Gottlieb Grabert, R. R. 1, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Verlin Rhoads, Rockton, Ill., Mrs Theodore Krietenstein, R. R. 3 Mt. Vernon, Miss Olivia Dickhaut, a Methodist missionary, Chihuaha, Mexico, Mrs. Gilbert Aylesworth, French Lick, Ind., Rev. Walter Eickhaut, Zanesville, Ohio and Rev. John W. Dickhaut, Columbus Ohio; a brother, Peter Dickhaut, R. R. 2 , Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mrs. August Wulf, R. R. 2, Mt. Vernon; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
