GEORGE W. ESCHE

George W. Esche 81, of 813 E. Fifth street died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (17 Aug 1954) at the Comfort Rest Home in Evansville where he had been a a patient for the last two weeks.

 

A native of Marrs township, a son of August Esche and Louisa Huber Esche, the deceased had resided in Mt. Vernon for almost 50 years.  He was a farmer in Marrs township in his early years.  After coming to Mt. Vernon he was a mechanist employed by Keck-Gonnerman Co. for a number of years custodian of Central school.  Later, he returned to the employ of Keck Gonnerman Co. and retired two years ago.

 

The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service which will be conducted in the Short-Niehaus chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist Church of which the deceased was a member, will be the officiating clergyman.

 

Death severed marital bonds of 58 years.

 

Surviving in addition to the wife the former Augusta Schroeder, are two daughters, Mrs. C. E. Boyce, Cincinnati and Mrs. M. Dale Hungate, Mt. Vernon; one grandchild and on great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Northam, Evansville, and Miss Anna Esche, Marrs township, and three brothers, Walter and Albert Esche - Chicago and John Esche Eastern Blk Twp.
