Mrs. Ida Drunk French, 82, Indianapolis, widow of George R. French and a native
longtime resident of the Beech Grove school vicinity in West Lynn township,
succumbed to burns at 1 p.m. Sunday (10 Jan 1954) in an Indianapolis hospital.
Mrs. French was burned last Thursday as she emptied and set fire
to trash in a refuse receptable at the home of her
son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Foster, 1819 N. Talbott
street, Indianapols,
where she resided. A granddaughter, Mrs. Louanna
Scott, was burned on the hands when she responed to
Mrs. French' s cries for help.
The deceased was a girlhood member of Bethesda General Baptist Church later transferring her membership to
Beech Grove Methodist church which no long exists. In accordance with her
off repeated wish, the funeral service will be conducted at Bethesda Church with burial following in the family plot
in Beech Grove cemetery.
The body will be brought directly from an Indianapolis funeral home to Bethesda Church for the funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Officiating clergymen
will be Rev. A. C. Weir, pastor of Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Gibson county
and a friend of the deceased's family, and Rev. Roger Henson pastor of Bethesda church.
George K. French, the husband of the late deceased and a well
known Posey county farmer died in Indianapolis in 1939 at the age of 68 years. He
and his family moved to Indianapolis from Posey county
about 25 years ago and Mr. and Mrs. French operated a roominghouse
there for several years.
Surviving, Mrs.
French are three daughters, Mrs. Carl Foster and Mrs.
Fred Culliman, both of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Herman Cummins, Cleveland, Ohio and two grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
