Fred Friend, 78, a retired farmer, a native of the Bufkin community and for more than 60 years a resident of
Attending the funeral from here were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gross, the
latter a sister of the deceased and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Gross and Mrs. Lloyd
Redman.
Mr. Friend is
survived by his wife, Eliza; three sons, Loren, Detroit, Eugene, Texas, and
Leslie, Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Bruce, Norris City; three brothers,
Felix and Ben, Broughton, Ill and George Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mrs Elmer Gross, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Mary Neal, Wichita, Kans.
and Mrs. Anna Lively, Carmi, Ill.,and a half brother,
William Schiffer, Evansville. The deceased's
parents were Fred Friend and Mary Lane Friend.
