FRED C GOSS

Fred C. Goss, 71, a retired farmer residing in Mt. Vernon and a representative of two prominent pioneer families of Point township, died at 8:45 a.m. today in St. Marys Hospital in Evansville.

 

He had been ill for several weeks and entered the hospital from his home at 1258 North Main street.  A post-mortem autopsy was performed at the hospital.

 

During the active years of his life, Mr. Goss was a Point township farmer, moving to Mt. Vernon with his wife, the former Elfrieda Schneider, upon his retirement.

 

He had a wide acquaintance and was for many years active in local Republican politics.

 

His parents were Henry D. Goss and Abigail Conlin Goss, Point township pioneers of prominence.

 

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service which will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Short-Niehaus chapel.  Rev. August E. Binder pastor of Trinity Evangelical and pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church will be the officiating minister.

 

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home chapel after Thursday noon.  (Burial was in Bellefontaine Cemetery.)

 

The wife and nieces and nephews survive.
