AUGUST C GRABERT

August C. Grabert, 78, a respected, life-long resident of South Posey county whose industry and honesty were by words in the community, died at 3 p.m. Thursday (20 May 1954) in the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

An autopsy revealed gallstones as the cause of death.  Mr. Grabert entered the hospital Wednesday noon from his home at 701 East Second street.  He had been ill only a week.

He moved to Mt. Vernon 20 years ago after a successful farming career in Eastern Black and Marrs townships.

The body is at the Short-Niehause Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Rev. August E. Binder, pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, of which the deceased was a devout member will be the officiating clergyman.

Surviving are the wife, nee Bertha Juncker Grabert; a daughter, Mrs. Clyde Kincade, R. R. 1, Mt. Vernon, four grandchildren, Mrs. Clyde Eaton, Charles Kincade, Ralph Kincade and Mrs. John Keitel; five great grandchildren and a sister; Mts. Margaret Kueber, R. R. 1.  The grandson, Ralph Kincade is in the U.S. Army and is stationed in Germany.

The deceased was the son of Gottlieb Grabert and Margaret Schnarr Grabert.
