MOUNT VERNON - David W. Gross, 73, of Mount Vernon, Ind., lost his long battle with chronic lung disease at 8:50 a.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.

 

David was born March 30, 1933, in Marion, Va., son of John A. and Alice Gross.

 

He was a welder at Countrymark Co-op for several years retiring in 1996. David loved to collect anything and took great joy in his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Winebarger) Gross, of Mount Vernon; his mother, Alice Runyon, of Vincennes, Ind.; sons, Will David Gross, of Newburgh, David Gross Jr., of Freeport, Ohio, John Gross, of Westfield, Ind., Larry Gross, of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Robert and John Hargrove, both of Mount Vernon; daughters, Debra Rowe, Sharon Carr, Davida Flener, and Teresa Jarred, of Mount Vernon and Connie Baber, of Princeton, Texas; brother, Garland Gross, of Michigan; and a sister, Sue Nation, of Evansville; half sisters, Shirley Roe and Linda Westcott, of Vincennes; and Lois Cooper, of Michigan; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 E. Fourth St., Mount Vernon, Ind., with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.
