Funeral To Be held Saturday Short's Chapel
James Willard Hurley, 49, prominent Mt. Vernon citizen and former city councilman, died at 11:15 o'clock Tuesday night at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He had been removed from his home at 620 Locust street to the hospital Sunday afternoon and since that time his condition had been critical.

The body has been removed to the Short Funeral Home in this city where it will remain until the hour of the services. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight.

Last rites are to be held at the Short chapel at 9 o'clock Saturday morning with Dr. Frank R Greer, minister of First Methodist Church as the officiating clergyman. The body will then be removed to Marion, Ky; for interment in Maple View cemetery.

The deceased had been a salesman for Keck-Gonnerman Company Implement department for several years. He served as city councilman from Jan 1, 1935 to Jan 1, 1939. He was a member of First Methodist Church and served on the official board of the church. He also was a member of Mt. Vernon lodge, No 277, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Mt Vernon Conservation Club, Lakeview Club and Mr. Vernon Gun Club.

Born in Marion, Ky., the son of G.H. and Bessie Akin Hurley, the deceased had resided in Mt. Vernon since 1913.

Near surviving relatives are the wife Mary Lloyd Hurley; a son, George F Hurley; the father G.H. Hurley, Mt. Vernon; three brothers, George Hurley, Lynnwood, Calif. and Rich and John Hurley, Alhambra, Calif and three nieces.
