Martha M. Love

Martha M. Love, of
Evansville, went home to Heaven at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2006.
She was born on
October 15, 1919, in Beech Grove, Ky., to John and Nell Humphrey.

She had been a member of
Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Kentucky since childhood, where she was very involved. She dearly enjoyed the dinners and get-togethers at the church functions. She attended New Bethel Baptist Church in Evansville.

Martha worked at Republic as a riveter during WWII,
Deaconess Hospital as a nurse's aide, Shane Manufacturing, Helens Restaurant, and retired from the Executive Inn.

She loved her garden, growing her tomatoes and green beans and took pride in canning them and sharing with others. Martha also enjoyed making quilts and giving them to friends and family, which included making one for each of the great-grandchildren. The last she finished one week prior to her stroke on her 87th birthday.

Martha loved being with friends and family and enjoyed cooking for everyone, especially making fudge and candy at Christmas time. She will truly be missed by those lives she touched through her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis, in 1989; son, Jerry, in 1997; infant grandson, Larry, in 1964; and two sisters, Mabel Howell and Myrtle Pinkston.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Marie of Evansville with whom she lived; son, Terry and wife, Rhonda of Evansville; daughter-in-law, Geneva Love of Evansville; grandchildren, Sharon Renee and Missy Love of Evansville, Brian Belangee and wife, Ali of Muncie, Ind.; and Jenny Dodd and husband, Eric of Evansville; great-grandchildren, Caden Love, Gavin, Hope, Chantz, and Karley Dodd of Evansville, and Kennedy, Grace, Luke Belangee of Muncie; brothers-in-law, Luther "Hoot" Love and Homer "Pete" Love and wife, Wanda of Evansville; sister-in-law, Stella Decker of Calhoun, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all the special caregivers who compassionately cared for Martha during her stay at
Parkview Care Center.
