Hazel (Elpers) Kraft

 

MOUNT VERNON - Hazel (Elpers) Kraft, 80, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Golden Living at Woodlands Convalescent Center in Newburgh.

 

Hazel was self-employed in the cleaning business and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed playing music with her husband, dancing and gardening.

 

Hazel is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cornelius "Neal" Kraft of Mount Vernon; four sons, Larry Kraft and his wife, Lea, of St. Louis, A.J. Kraft and his wife, Sherryl, of Mount Vernon, Kenny Kraft and his wife, Charlene, of St. Philip, and Marvin Kraft and his wife, Tracy, of Mount Vernon; and a daughter, Mary Lou Nelson and her husband, David, of St. Philip. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Amanda Dardeen, Shawna Bittner, Meredith Marucci, Rachael and Craig Nelson, and Kyle, Elyse, Aaron and Chelsea Kraft; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Vernon, Bob, Jim, Neil, Sylvester and Wilfred Elpers; and a sister, Ruth Neumann.

 

She was preceded in death by sons, Harold and John Wayne Kraft; grandchildren, Adrianne Nelson and Andrew Kraft; and brothers, Virgil and Jerome Elpers.

 

Services 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, with Father Kenneth R. Steckler officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Church Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 4:30 p.m., at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 First Ave. Visitation will continue on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
