Of St. Philip Area, Dies Today:

 

George P. Martin Sr., 73, of RR 1, St. Philip Road, died at 3:55 am today (12 Jan 1967) at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.

 

Mr. Martin was a retired Marrs Township farmer and businessman. He was a veteran of World War 1, a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church at St. Philip and the Owen Dunn Post of the American Legion.

 

He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Reynolds, Mrs. Alice Bitts, Mrs. Hazel Waren, Miss Elsa Martin, Mrs. Mary Ann Moye and Mrs. Louis Heberer; four sons, Robert Martin, George P. Jr., Harold K., and Walter E., all area residents; a sister, Mrs. William Hicks Sr. of Las Vegas, NV, and 23 grandchildren.

 

Friends may call at Alexander West Chapel in Evansville after 6 pm today.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Harold Claycamp officiating. Burial will be in Tupman Cemetery at Evansville.
