OLIVER G MCKINNEY

Oliver G. McKinney, 75, prominent Point township farmer for many years died at 10 p.m. last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Ritter 1409 Helfrich avenue, Evansville.  Heart disease was fatal after acute illness of a week.

 

Mr. McKinney had resided in Evansville for the last two years.  He was a native of Point township, a son of Taylor McKinney and Amanda Glaze McKinney, and spent his entire life there until his moving to Evansville.

 

The body is at Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville where Rev. Newton Jones pastor of St. James Methodist Church, Evansville, will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday in Alexander chapel.  Burial will follow at Bellefontaine cemetery at Mt. Vernon at about 3:15 p.m.

 

Mr. McKinney’s wife nee Sarah Booth, died in 1933.

 

He is survived by a son, Walter, Harrisburg, Ill; four daughters, Mrs. Jesse Saltzman and Mrs. William J. Breiner, Poseyville and Mrs. Emil Taylor, New Harmony, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Mc Kinney, Mt. Vernon, and two sisters, Mrs. Elijah Rhodes, West Black township and Mrs. Elzie Cox, Mt. Vernon.

 

The deceased was prominent in Point township affairs.

 

He was a member of Farmers chapel Methodist Church and Point township lodge of Odd Fellows.

 

An ardent Republican, he was East Point precinct committeeman for many years.
