Funeral services for Thomas U. Meissner, 58, who died suddenly at
1:58 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Mt. Vernon city building where he had been relieved shortly before as a police-sheriff radio operator, will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Weisinger Funeral Home chapel.

Rev. Frank Turner and Rev. Pate will officiate and burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Mr. Meissner had been ill for some time with a heart ailment.  Apparently his condition was good early yesterday morning but near the
noon hour he suddenly became ill and called for a relief operator.  Death followed shortly afterwards on a bed in the Fire Department quarters in the city building.

The deceased was a veteran of World War I and a member of Owen Dunn post No. 5 American Legion.  He also was a member of the
Church of God.

Mr. Meissner was a former patrolman of the Police Department and prior to his present position with the Radio Division he had been a custodian at
Mt. Vernon High school.  He resided near Grafton northwest of Mt. Vernon.

Near surviving relatives are the wife Nellie; a daughter, Mrs. James Ashworth, Mt. Vernon; twin daughter and son, Toni Kay and Thomas Kent; nine stepchildren, Mrs. Lincoln Zoph and Mrs. Richard Parsons, both of Mt. Vernon, Edward Lee Sellner R.R.#, Mt. Vernon, Donald Ray and Mary Ruth Sellner, at home, Robert Eugene, Marjorie Sue, Ralph M and Gary Lewis Turner also at home, and two grandchildren.
