HENRY W. METZ

Henry W. Metz, 68, a Center township farmer who retired after a successful career in agriculture, died at 5:20 a.m. today at Welborn Memorial Baptist Hospital in Evansville.

 

His death followed a long illness.  His condition had been critical for the last two weeks.

 

A native of the Blairsville community in Posey county, a son of William Metz and Elizabeth Geiss Metz, the deceased had spent his entire, useful life in Posey county.

 

He had taken an active role in Republican politics and was Republican committeeman in South Center precinct for many years.

 

His church affiliation was with Mt. Zion General Baptist Church of Oliver.

 

The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon where friends may call after 6:30 p.m. today.  The funeral service will be conducted in Weisinger chapel a 2p.m. Thursday with burial following in Bellefontaine cemetery.  Rev. Lawrence Rager, Evansville, a former pastor of Mt. Zion General Baptist church will conduct the services.

 

Surviving are the wife, nee Bessie Oliver; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred A. Kiltz and Mrs. James Maglaris, both of Evansville, a son, Oliver Metz, Blairsville; three grandsons, Alfred William Kiltz, Kirby Kiltz and Thomas Metz, and a brother John Metz, Evansville.
