Funeral services were conducted this afternoon for Fred T. Moore, 66, agricultural and civic leader who was found dead on the porch of his home northeast of Mt. Vernon about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

He was a victim of a heart condition for which he was receiving medical treatment.

Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes minister of First Methodist Church, of the Official Board of which the deceased was a member, conducted the funeral service at 3 o'clock this afternoon  in Short Niehaus Funeral Home.  Burial was in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Mr. Moore's unexpected death which followed by a little more than a year that of his wife, nee Katherine Walter; cast a pall of sorrow over the Mt. Vernon community.  His activities had ranged into many civic, agricultural, church, political and fraternal fields and his life long role as a useful citizen of the community had left an indelible impression.

He was one of the original core of Posey county farmers who organized the Farm Bureau and he was active in that organization until his death.  He was a director for many years and at one time chairman of the board of Posey County Farm Bureau Co-op.  Under the original A.A.A. and late under the present Agricultural  Conservation & Stabilization Administration, he was county committee chairman and held that office in the A.C.S. when he resigned as a county committee member in 1952.
