IDA M MOORE

 

May 13, 1957

Mrs. Ida M. Moore, 90 years old last April 14, a native of South Posey county and one of the Mt. Vernon community's most respected and beloved women, died at 10 a.m. Sunday (12 May 1957) at Maxey Nursing Home in Evansville where she had resided for the last four years.

 

She was the widow of Angelo Moore, a prominent and successful local farmer who died 28 years ago.

 

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

 

The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Bufkin.

 

Officiating clergymen will be Elder Leo Dodd, Eldorado, Ill, of the Primitive Baptist church, and Rev. August E. Binder,  pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church in Mt. Vernon.  Mr. Moore was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church at Farmersville.

 

The deceased was of the Posey county pioneer stock.  Her father was William Barnett Givens and her mother was Maria Erwin Givens.  She had been ill since Thanksgiving Day of last year.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry Stephens, Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, Mrs. Eugene Rowe and Angelo Stephens, both of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Foster Tolliver, New Harmony, Morton Stephens, Fort Collins, Colo., and Paul B. Stephens, Chicago, and four great-grandchildren.  A son, Fred T. Moore died in 1956.
