MAYBELLE NEALE

Miss Maybelle Neale, 76, a newspaper employee in Mt. Vernon for a number of years and from 1924 to 1943 service representative of Indiana Belle Telephone Co., in Mt. Vernon, died this morning at Maxey Nursing Home in Evansville.  She had been ill for several years.

 

The body has been brought to the Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.  Funeral arrangements are pending and await word from relatives at a distance.  Burial will be at New Albany, Ind.

 

The late deceased was society editor of the Evening Sun, a former local daily newspaper.  Following her retirement after 19 years as service representative of Indiana Bell she was bookkeeper of The Western Star, a former local weekly newspaper.

 

She and her sisters, Misses Fannie and Grace Neale, resided together for many years, Miss Grace Neale died in 1953.

 

Surviving the late deceased are a sister, Mrs. Mary Deann, Meherrin, Va and a brother, William H. Neale, Brooklyn, N. Y.

 

Miss Neale was a life-long resident of the Mt. Vernon community.  Her father, Thomas Neale, was a farmer near Mt. Vernon who later moved to the city.  Her mother was before her marriage Belle Dorman, a member of the prominent Dorman boat-building family of New Albany.

 

The deceased was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Martha Hunter Guild of the church.  She was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School.
