PAUL N. NICHOLS

Paul N. Nichols, 82, Mt. Vernon, died at 4 a.m. today at Welborn Memorial Baptist Hospital in Evansville.

 

He was a retired railroad engineer and for several years operated a grocery store in Mt. Vernon.  His wife, Ida B. Wilson Nichols, died in September, 1950.

 

Mr. Nichols, in failing health for some time, entered the hospital last weekend from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Rowe, 709 Main street, where he resided.

 

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon but funeral arrangements will not be made until the arrival of a nephew from Kansas City.  (Burial was in Old Beech Cemetery.)

 

Nearest surviving relatives are two nieces and two nephews residing away from Mt. Vernon.

 

Mr. Nichols was a member of the Masonic order at Moberly, Mo., where he resided most of the time he was a railroad engineer.
