BENJAMIN F NIEMEIER

Benjamin F. Niemeier, 72, a Marrs township farmer for the greater part of his life and a native of Marrs township, died at 4:30 a.m. today in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.

 

Death apparently was caused by heart disease.  Mr. Niemeier had been ill only a few days and entered the hospital early last night.

 

The deceased was a son of Antone Niemeier, a native go Germany, and Catherine Wulf Niemeier.

 

The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and will remain there until it is taken to St. Matthew's Catholic Church for Requiem High Mass at 8:15 a.m. Thursday.  Father Raymond B Smith, St. Matthew's pastor, will be the celebrant of the Mass.  Burial will be in the cemetery of St. Philip Catholic Church.  Mr. Niemeier's wife, nee Margaret Bushkill, who died 25 years ago, is buried there.

 

Surviving are four daughters,  Mrs. Arthur Shaw and Mrs. George Stephans, Evansville, Mrs. Louis Apperman, Washington, Ill., and Mrs. Harold Mangold, Stuttgart, Germany, where her husband is stationed in military service; three sons, Wilbert and Bernard, Evansville; and Arthur, R. R. 1, Mt. Vernon; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Lewis and Mrs. Margaret Kueber, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Roscoe Ruminie, Marrs township, and Mrs. Herman Muehlenbein, Evansville, and a brother, John Niemeier, Marrs township.
