Robert (Bert) Pearce, 65, of 411 College avenue, Mt. Vernon who spent a lifetime in the oil
industry, died at 11:40 p.m. Monday (7 Oct 1957) in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He had been seriously ill for two months. A post mortem
autopsy was performed today at the hospital to determine the cause of death.
The deceased, a native of Weatherford, Tex., was a driller and drilling
superintendent for Olson Drilling Co., for 23 years. For the last 10
years he had been employed by major oil companies in production and drilling
the Tri-State area.
The Pearce family has resided in Mt. Vernon since 1941.
The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home
where friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Minister John F.
Miller, of First christian
Church, will conduct the funeral service in Weisinger
chap at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery. The
deceased was a member of a Church of Christ in Oklahoma.
Surviving are the wife, Georgia Robinson Pearce; four daughters by
their marriage, Mrs. Robert Luttrell, Evansville, and twins Eddice
and Virginia Pearce, and Jacqueline Pearce, at home, and a son and daughter by mr. Pearce's previous marriage.
Charles H. Pearce, Snyder, Tex. and Mrs. John Cardona,
Tulsa, Okla. Also surviving are one grandchild
by the present marriage and three grandchildren by the former marriage and
eight brothers and sisters residing in Oklahoma and Texas.
The deceased was
a member of a family of parents, 11 sons and a daughter who migrated to Oklahoma from Texas in a covered wagon and homesteaded at Ardmore when Oklahoma became a territory.
