JAMES T. PERRY

James T. Perry, 70, of 543 East Tenth street, a resident of Mt. Vernon for 30 years and associated with his brothers in Perry Brothers, contractors until illness incapacitated him, died at 1:20 a.m. today at his home.

 

He had been ill for the last four years and critically sick for the last two weeks.

 

A native of near Ashland City, Tenn., a son of Thomas Perry and Lucy Hudgens Perry, the deceased came to Mt. Vernon to reside in February 1925.

 

The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service set for 2 p.m. Friday in Weisinger chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Rev. James Colbert, Owensville, Ind., former pastor of Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church and Rev. Chester Layman, present pastor, will officiate.  A Masonic service will be conducted at the grave.

 

Mr. Perry was a member of Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church and Beulah lodge, No. 578, Free & Accepted Masons.

 

He is survived by the wife, nee Maude Lawrence; a son George Perry, Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Jack R. Knight, Blackford road and Mrs. Jesse W. Fleener, Evansville; five grandchildren; three brothers, Henry A and Jess J Perry, Mt. Vernon and Walter Perry, Clarksvillle, Tenn., and a sister Mrs. Cora Miles, Mt. Vernon.
