CORA INEZ HOLMES RAIRDON

Mrs. Cora Inez Holmes Rairdon, 206 West Tenth street, widow of William Rairdon, died at 7:10 a.m. today at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

 

She would have been 75 years old on the coming April 7.  Her late husband, a long-time employee of the former Home Mill & Grain Co., and more recently a parking meter patrolman of Mt. Vernon Civil City died last February 1.  Mrs. Rairdon entered the hospital three weeks ago.

 

The body has been brought to Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon where friends may call after Thursday noon.

 

Rev. August  E. Binder, pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, of which the deceased was a member, will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday in Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Mrs. Rairdon was a member of the Auxiliary of Trinity Church, Helen Rebekah lodge, the Past Noble Grand Club of Helen Rebekah lodge and Harrow Women's Relief Corps.

 

Born at Sellersburg, Ind., a daughter of George Holmes and Dora Berry Holmes, the deceased came to Mt. Vernon as a girl.  During her long residence here her gentle, sympathetic disposition and her devotion to her family and friends had earned her the respect and love of many.

 

Surviving are the son, Clarence, Evansville; a brother, Clarence Holmes, Louisville, Ky; four sisters, Mrs. James A. Blackburn and Mrs. Arthur Watson, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Edna Collier, Evansville, and Mrs. George Grubs, Indianapolis and nieces and nephews.
