IDA W. RIECKEN

Mrs. Ida W. Riecken, 74, of 319 W. Ninth street Mt. Vernon died at 7:30 o'clock Monday (11 Jul 1955) night in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville where she had been a patient for five days.

 

She was the widow of Philip Riecken who died in 1951 and a life-long resident of Posey county.

 

Her church affiliation was with first Methodist Church she was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of First Church.

 

The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service set for 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Short-Niehaus chapel.  Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist Church, will be the officiating clergyman.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.  Friends are invited to call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Mrs. Riecken was a daughter of George W. Welborn and Amelia Curtis Welborn, representatives of prominent early local families.

 

She is survived by a son, Earl Riecken, Mobile, Ala; three daughters, Mrs. George Warren and Miss Muriel Riecken, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Mrs. Alvin G. Koerner, Wabash, Ind; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Thomas C Welborn, Mt. Vernon, and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Gerton and Mrs. Dora Hood, both of Mt. Vernon.
