WILLIAM ROSE

William Rose, 82, employed for many years by the former Mt. Vernon Straw Board Co., and in later years as a hostler in local Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad yards, died at 3:25 a.m. today at his home at 537 Wolflin street.

 

He came to Mt. Vernon over 50 years ago from Princeton, Ind.  He was born at Francisco, Ind. a son of James Rose and Melvina Nelson Rose.

 

Illness of three years that had confined him to his bed for two years was fatal.

 

The body is at Short-Niehaus Funeral Home where friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday.

 

Rev. Ernest E. Hopper, pastor of Mt. Vernon church of the Nazarene will conduct the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Bufkin.

 

The wife, Mary, and a son, Millard W. Rose, survive.
