ALICE OLIVER RUSSELL

Mrs. Alice Oliver Russell, 75, former Mt. Vernon resident who is survived by 131 descendeants, died at 8 o'clock last night at the home of her son, Clarence, in Watertown, Tenn., with whom she had made her home for 26 years.  She had been ill for four months.

 

Prior to residence in Tennessee, she lived at 908 W. Fifth street in Mt. Vernon for 12 years.  Her husband, Isaac Russell, died in Mt. Vernon in 1929.  She was a member of General Baptist Church.

 

Weisinger Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, is in charge of local funeral and burial arrangements.  The body will reach the home of a son, Othie Russell, R. R. 4, Mt. Vernon, early this evening.  Rev. Arthur C. Blackburn, a retired General Baptist minister, will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the son's home.  Burial will be in Beech Grove cemetery in West Lynn township.

 

Surviving in addition to the sons, Clarence and Othie are five other sons, Bodie, R. R. 3, Mt. Vernon, Presley and Virgil, Watertown, Tenn., Carsley, Maunie, Ill; and Jesse, Lebanon, Tenn; four daughters, Mrs. Mitchell Gammons, Detroit, Mrs Walter Wade, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Wilford Thomas, R. R. 1, New Harmony and Mrs. Dod Taylor, Nashville, Tenn; 70 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren and a brother, James Oliver, Franklin, Ky.
