ELVERA K "VERA" GOEBEL SCHENK

Elvera K. "Vera" (Goebel) Schenk, 75, of Evansville, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital.

Mrs. Schenk was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and a life member of VFW Post 1114 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, canning green beans and playing cards. She was a 1949 graduate of F. J. Reitz High School.

 

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edwin Schenk; two daughters, Lisa Rathgeber of Evansville and Theresa (Ed) Goebel of Mount Vernon, Ind.; and four sons, George, David, Ted (Tonya) and Joseph Schenk and his companion, Effie, all of Evansville. Also surviving Vera are one sister, Darlene Rendl; one brother, Ronald Goebel and his wife, Linda, all of Evansville; and eight grandchildren, Melissa Goebel, Adam Goebel, Stephanie Schenk, Nick Schenk, Jennifer Rathgeber, Alana Ross, Christopher Rathgeber and Coreena Byram.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at St. Philip Catholic Church, the Rev. Jack Durchholz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m.

 

Friends may also visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. until service time Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church.

 

The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Philip Catholic Church, the Liver Foundation or Our Lady of the Snows.
