WILLIAM "BILL" SCHISLER

MOUNT VERNON - William "Bill" Schisler, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital.

Bill was born March 11, 1933, in Posey County, Indiana, the son of the late William H. and Elsie (Crawford) Schisler.

 

Bill was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a retired Posey County farmer and had operated his own dump truck service for the past 20 years. Bill was a member of the Beulah Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Hadi Temple, Elks, America Legion Post No. 5 and Indiana Farm Bureau. He was the past president of the West Black Township Water Corporation.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Kenneth Schisler; and three sisters, Hazel Roos, Lillian Medwid, and Juanita Schisler.

 

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Glenda (Todd) Schisler; his two daughters, Cindy Rae Miller and her husband, Lee, and Jodi Lynn Kaufman and her husband, Knic, all of Mount Vernon, Indiana; his son, Robert Todd Schisler and his wife, Brooke, of Coral Gables, Florida; his four grandchildren, Audrey Lynn Miller, Cody Lee Miller, Christopher Jordan Kaufman and Curtis Todd Kaufman. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Urey of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Henry B. Schisler of Dayton, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2007, at Schneider Funeral Home, with Rev. Russ Abel officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street in Mount Vernon.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or to your favorite charity.
