ETHEL PRICE SEARS

Ethel Price, daughter of Franklin and Rachel Price was born June 21, 1872 and died May 2, 1931, age 68 yrs, 10 mo. and 11 days.

 

The most of her life was spent in and near Griffin.

 

She married James Sears in Jul 1897. To this union six children were born, Mrs. Adrian Hyatt of Flint, Mich., Mrs. Ruby Montgomery of Evansville, Mrs. Albert Hale and James Henry Sears of Griffin, Miss Cecil Sears of Tennyson and Maud who died in infancy.

 

She was married to Wm. Skelton of Tennyson in Feb. 1924 where she lived until death.

 

At the age of 18 she united with the Primitive Baptist Church of this place and lived a devoted Christian all her life. As a wife, mother and step-mother she was ideal her thoughts centered about her home and her children. As a step-mother she had the interests of two broken homes constantly in mind and had that rare ability of establishing a home that was cherished by children and step children alike.

 

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, the five children named, step children, three brothers Clarence Price of Evansville, Newton and Melvin Price of Brookland, Ark., and a host of relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles Arnold of Carmi at the Baptist Church Monday at eleven o'clock with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
