ENOS SMITH

Enos Smith, 79, a Mt. Vernon handyman for many years and for a long period a part-time janitorial employee at the county court house died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Opal Hardin, 1103 Canal street.

 

He had been acutely ill only a few days but failing health terminated a long period of industrious service.  The deceased came to Mt. Vernon from his native town of Akin, Ill.

 

The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home where Rev. Paul turner, pastor of Church of God Mission, will conduct the funeral service in Weisinger chapel at 2 p.m. Monday.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hardin, Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Elmer Mann, Evansville; two sons, Marion Smith, Evansville, and Flavil Smith, Jeffersonville, Ind; 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Oma Smith, St. Louis, and two brothers, Levi and Bevy Smith, both of Carmi, Ill.
