HELEN FORD STALLINGS

NEW HARMONY ? A longtime New Harmony resident, Helen Ford Stallings, 91, of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away at Hope Hospice House South in Fort Myers, Fla., on January 6, 2007.

 

Helen resided at the Lakes Assisted Living Facility of Fort Myers, where she was very involved in the music programs and social events.

 

Helen was born on October 19, 1915, in New Harmony, Ind., the daughter of Edwin and Pansy Ford. She graduated from New Harmony High School in 1933.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Emil Ivan Stallings, one sister, Prudy Stallings of New Harmony, and one brother, George Ford of New Harmony.

 

She is survived by two children, Emily Ann Weldon of Indianapolis, and her husband, Courtenay, and Jo Ellen Miller of Lakeland, Fla., and her husband, Dennis; three grandchildren, Heather Weldon of Portland, Ore., Sean Weldon of Littleton, Colo., and Holly Hudson of Evansville; and three great-grandchildren, Braidyn Hudson of Evansville, and Caleb and Lucy Weldon, both of Littleton, Colo.

 

Helen was a member of Johnson United Methodist Church of New Harmony, Ind., and Cypress Lake Methodist Church of Fort Myers, Fla. She was very involved in both churches through music, volunteering, and committees. She was a life member of Tri Kappa and Eastern Star. Her earlier years in New Harmony were busy with civic events, and the Brownie and Girl Scout Organizations.

 

A spring graveside memorial service is planned for Helen in New Harmony, Ind. The date and time will be announced at a later time. Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to Johnson United Methodist Church in New Harmony or Hope Hospice House of South Fort Myers, Fla., 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, Fla.
