MARY CECIL COX SWEAT

Mrs. Mary Cecil Cox Sweat, 45, Inverness, Fla., wife of Leonard Sweat and a Posey county and Mt. Vernon resident until ten years ago, died at 10:30 o'clock last night in St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg.

 

The popular former local woman underwent surgery there three weeks ago.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Sweat were associated in ownership-operation of the Arrow Cafe and later the Idlewild Cafe in Mt. Vernon for a number of years.

 

Since their departure from Mt. Vernon they had owned and operated the S & W Cafe at Inverness, a tourist center.

 

A Rosary service will be conducted this evening at Potter Funeral Home in Inverness following which the body will be brought to Short-Niehaus Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.  It is expected to reach Mt. Vernon late Saturday night.

 

The funeral service in Mt. Vernon will be at 9 a.m. Monday.  Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery at Wadesville.

 

Other survivors in addition to the husband and father, are a son, Robert, Inverness, and three sisters, Miss Joan Cox, Mrs. Milson Haering and Mrs. Clarence Rairdon, all of Evansville.
