MARY WILLIAMS TURNER

Mrs. Mary Williams Turner, 64, a prominent Mt. Vernon woman of pioneer local ancestry and the wife of Edward Turner, veteran Mt. Vernon barber and barbershop owner now operating the Pocket Hotel shop, died at 6 a.m. today at her home at 219 East Second street.

 

The Turners are adjacent neighbors of the Lawrence N. Weintraut Sr., family.  Mr. Weintraut died early yesterday.

 

Mrs. Williams had been in failing health for several years and seriously ill since May.

 

The body is at Weisinger Funeral Home where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday.

 

Elder Leo Dodd, Eldorado, Ill., of the Primitive Baptist Church will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday in Weisinger chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Mrs. Turner was a member of Harrow Relief Corps and the American Legion Auxiliary unit of Owen Dunn post, No. 5.  She was a native of Center township, a daughter of Thomas N. Williams and Dicie Cox Williams.

 

Surviving in addition to the husband, are a son, Robert E. Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Miss Marian Turner, Louisville, Ky., two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Little, Francis N.M. and Mrs. Ambrose H. Harbert, Centralia, Ill.
