Mrs Bessie West Wallace, 70, a highly respected Black township
rural woman and the wife of Albert C. Wallace, prominent farmer, died
unexpectedly at
She had been ill of asthma and a complicating heart ailment for
several years, but became acutely sick only about three hours prior to her
demise.
Mrs. Wallace was a native of White county,
She was a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist (Miller) Church
and of the Ladies' Aid and Missionary Society of the church. Until her
health failed she had been active in church work.
The body is at the Weisinger Funeral
Home, pending the completion of funeral arrangement. (She

Surviving, in
addition to the husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Redman, a secretary in
the legal office of Clement & Mc Clean, and Mrs. Winfred Kissick, both of the Mt. Vernon community; two sons, Woman
Wallace a farmer and Black township justice of the peace and Alfred J. (Josh)
Wallace, a U.S. Army major in World War II who is now a Mt. Vernon city
mail carrier; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs.
Herschel Knight, of near Mt. Vernon, and a brother Rev. Walter West,
Evansville.
