Dr. George W. Wilson, 61, Springfleld, Mo, a native of Mt. Vernon and retired U.S. Navy captain, died last
night at the Veterans Hospital at Nevada, Mo, where he was professionally
employed
Announcement of Dr. Wilson's death was received in Mt. Vernon by Malcolm W. Fuhrer a long-standing
friend from the deceased's brother Claude A. Wilson, Evansville.
Funeral arrangements have no been completed but it is believed
that the services including burial will be at Springfield, Mo..
Dr. Wilson, was a son of the late George
H Wilson and Nannie Wheeler Wilson, prominent Mt. Vernon residents. The father was Posey
County Clerk and later was employed by the American Hominy co.
Following graduation from Mt. Vernon High school in 1909, the late deceased attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and was graduated from St. Louis University school of
medicine. He was a physician in the U.S. Army for a number of years and
then practiced here and in Evansville.
He re-entered military service as a Navy doctor with the rank of
captain. He retired from the navy several years ago.
Surviving are the wife; a daughter Betty who is the wife of
Captain John Hughes, U. S. Army; two grandchildren, and the brother in Evansville.
Dr. Wilson was a
member of Mt. Vernon lodge of Elks. He last visited Mt. Vernon two years ago and was a guest in the
home of Mr. and Mts. Malcolm W. Fuhrer.
